Do you think they used real jade on the Olympic medals?
ohioan_femme asked:
With so many fake brands and Rolexes coming out of China…. With all the fakery going on and I am sure many more will come out long after the Olympics is over, do you think they really used real jade on the Olympic medals? The Beijing Olympic organizers are so proud of this. There are many substitutes for jades and only an expert would know the difference.

It is the Olympics, the worldwide event that only comes around every 4 years.
The Birdnest Stadium cost nearly 1 billion dollars.
The water cube, also millions of dollars.
The sand, that’s right dirt sand for the beach volleyball event cost 10 million dollars.
So yes, it is real jade, they dont go cheap for the olympics. Nursultan Tuyakbay

I think they are real jade but based off last years shipments of toys I’d want all the medals tested for lead! badbender001
I’ve been observing those medals and I’m pretty sure that’s real Jade. For one thing, it looks to be commercial quality Jade judging from the color and the transparency. In that quality, Jade is plentiful and inexpensive. China spent a lot of money on these games. I see no reason why they would blemish those medals with substitutes or simulants when such Jade material is affordable. ?
